As a part of our Student Preaching Month, this sermon is preached by CBSM senior, Josh Johnson. Josh is a senior at BJHS, and plans to attend UNA to study marketing. I’ve known Josh for 4 years, and his heart for Jesus, missions, and the lost is unbelievably genuine. I’ve seen Josh brought to tears many times when being convicted of reaching the unsaved with the gospel. It was an absolute honor to hear Josh preach from his heart about the purity of Jesus, the sin of humanity, and the power of the gospel.

This whole passage absolutely blew my mind! Jesus as a 12 year old is fascinating. He somehow let his parents leave him, still never sinned, amazed the top temple professors and theologians for 3 days, still submitted to His parents, and continued to get smarter, grow in favor of God, and everyone liked him more and more every year. This is the ONLY passage about Jesus’ years from 3 – 29. In fact, Luke 2:52 is the only verse from His ages of 13 – 29! So check this out as we study Jesus’ childhood and understand how it should change our entire year!

Haggai small group discussion questions coming soon…
You’ll be shocked by the message of Haggai. God literally tells His people through Haggai that His temple in the Old Testament is more important than their homes, their jobs and careers, their food and drink, their finances, etc. How does that apply today since the OT temple no longer exists? We find in the NT that the OT is fulfilled first in Jesus, then the church, and third the body of the Christian. So what do we gather from that? Worshiping Jesus with His church as a Christian is not a priority in our lives…but it is THE priority! Check out this study.
