Our churches today can be all outta whack with emotion. Some churches are suped up on some crazy emotion. Other churches are just a boring bunch of nerds who don’t ever show emotion in worship. Then there are Christians out there walking around emotionless for Jesus like a bunch of androids, and others are like emotional roller-coasters who have no balancing faith to their feelings. What does God’s Word say about our emotions when it comes to worship? Check it out. This study got good fast!

In the newest installment of our iWorship series, this is the first application of worship. We first talked about the WHO of worship: Jesus. Then we talked about how we are created as humanity: WORSHIPPERS. So now, we’re looking at the most important place and the most important people that we are biblically called to worship at and with…THE CHURCH. Check this out more to understand why “You only love worshipping Jesus as much as you love worshipping Him WITH THE CHURCH.”

Our new series rolls on with message #2 “iWorship: as Humanity”.  In this message we studied the different Psalms that talk about who we are as humanity, how we’re supposed to worship as humanity, and who we are supposed to worship as humanity.  Psalm 8 and 139 are amazing Psalms that give us deep insight into these themes.  I pray you will be blessed and challenged!

This is our brand new series through the book of Psalms called “Apps for iWorship”.  In this series, we are learning how to apply worship to all of our lives.  It will last three months…May – July, and there will be 9 specific applications discussed through the Psalms: Jesus, humanity, the church, singing, emotion, the Word, prayer, confession, and missions.  Literally we are saying that through the book of Psalms “iWorship Jesus, as humanity, with the church, through singing, and emotions, from the Word, along with prayer, and confession of sin, for missions” so that He will be known!  In this series, God has called us to strip away all the flash and entertainment so that we can straight-up focus on Christ during our entire worship service.  No more funny service intro videos or crazy games to get the students hyped-up.  They are walking in, praying, hearing Scripture being read, worshipping, hearing almost an hour of preaching, and worshipping more.  I’m praying God will demolish our lives in this series with his wrecking ball, and then build us back up in Christ alone!   Continue reading

Blake Hall (CBSM and BJHS Junior) preached a solid sermon last night on this text.  This is when Job has been seen as the Bill Gates and Billy Graham of his day.  He loses everything from Satan challenging God to a worship war.  Job blesses and worship God even in his devastation.  Job has terrible counselors trying to assess his situation.  Job then has a godly counselor tell him what’s up.  Then God lays the smack down and rebukes Job to never question why He does what He does because all of His ways are perfect and right.  And in Job 42, now that Job is found to be a faithful worshipper…God restores to Job twice as much of everything he lost in the first place.  In this sermon Blake shows us why, how, and when God restores to us everything we have faithfully sacrificed for Christ.  Its a matter of inheritance.  Its a matter of Jesus.  Its a matter of eternity.  Check it out!   Continue reading

Phillip McBryde (CBSM and Bob Jones High School senior) preached a powerful message on this passage of Job 38 – 42 “When God Laid the Smack Down”.  When Job goes through all his intense suffering and losing everything, God eventually lays the smack down on him, and rebukes Job not to ever wonder or question whether what God does is just.  God is God.  God lays the smack down so that Job knows everything that God does is for His own glory.  In Hebrews 1:3, we see that the radiance of God’s glory is Jesus.  So the way we give glory to God in our suffering is by bringing glory to Christ.  Listen to PMac’s sermon, and understand this passage far deeper as well as how you can bring glory to Christ in your intense suffering.

This sermon was preached by David Munoz, one of our sophomore students in our KTL ministry.  We have been going over “how to preach” for the last 3 months.  These KTL guys have probably put somewhere around 30 hours into their sermons.  Can you imagine your first time ever publicly preaching to an audience of 125ish teens, about 20 adults, around 12 college students, friends and family present, video recorded for views on the net, and audio recorded for iTunes?  No pressure, right?!  As our first KTL preacher of 2010, David definitely stepped up to the plate and knocked a homer out of the park.  He challenged us on how to GET and GIVE Christ-centered counseling from Job 2 – 37.

Its crazy how the release of the “Clash of the Titans” movie that was just released goes so perfectly with the beginning of the story of Job.  When going through extreme suffering in real life as it happens, we must have a solid foundation of knowing who God really is, who Satan really is, and who you really are.  The truth in the passage is that God sovereignly designs suffering for your spiritual strength.  So, the challenge then is to endure suffering well by praising Jesus in your pain.  Enjoy the mp3 and other free resources as we take a deep look into Job’s life and suffering and see how it points us to Christ, and how we apply it to our lives.

Our last installment in the doctrine of providence series was on prayer.  With understanding God as providentially in control, and His will for our lives…the question remains: what good does prayer do to change the mind of a sovereign God?  So this message was all about how to pray effectively to make a difference.

I’ve often heard it said that today’s teenagers have two top questions:  How can I be sure I’m really saved? And, how can I know for sure what God’s will is for my life?  This sermon seeks to answer both of those questions, but it mostly centers on God’s individual will for our lives.  This sermon will cover what God’s will is not, what the definition of God’s will is, different aspects of God’s will, and how we can know what God’s will is for us personally.  I pray this helps your life and ministry!
