CBSM @ GIC Missions Conference

As Capshaw Baptist is holding our 2nd annual “Global Impact Celebration” Missions Conference this week till Sunday, I wanted to update you on everything that CBSM will be doing from now until then.

Wednesday Night: March 2nd
CBSM will be meeting with the rest of the church in our gymnasium area for a ton of free food from 5:00 – 6:00pm. If you’re bringing your family, then bring some food to contribute! Then at 6:30pm, we’ll all meet and sit together in the main auditorium of the church for the epic opening event of this GIC Conference. You will experience an awesome light show, aired-up globes bouncing around the room, unbelievable excitement, African drum performance, around 30 missionaries from all over the planet and our nation, passionate worship, and a challenging message from one of the premier speakers on missions and the gospel. This will last until 8:00pm. We want all of our CBSM students here! Continue reading

CBSM Mini-Conference: Persecuted Church – on the Doctrine of Christ

Yes, we get this idea from Pastor David Platt and his church Brookhills where he preaches for nearly 6 HOURS on doctrine and theology. We’ve been a few times for that, and its amazing. Platt gets it from his missions experiences where foreign churches study God’s Word in secret (so they don’t get killed) for hours (so they can learn as much as possible). This is CBSM’s second attempt, and we’ve learned to put it during a school break so that students can stay out late with no school the next day.
The reason we want to continue Persecuted Church conferences is because we believe that students desire a deeper study of God’s Word, and that they want to be different from the world in the way they live their lives for Jesus. The theme of our Persecuted Church Conference this time is “The Doctrine of Christ.” We haven’t taken a specific look at the Doctrine of Christ for almost 3 years now. So its time we take a deep look at the person and worship of Jesus again. All teenagers from our area are invited.

But not just to teach you about what’s going on, and also not just to teach you about what not to do…but really to teach you what culture actually is, how to discern what to stay away from, and how to know to use culture in every day life for the glory and fame of Jesus Christ. That is why we’re calling this whole weekend “Culture in 3D.”

You will meet Friday night at 9:30pm, and then you won’t go back home until Sunday around noon after the morning worship service. As you can see below on our DNOW schedule, the weekend will be full of 4 epic worship services, fun and fellowship in designated homes for small groups, mission projects, ridiculously good food, an exclusive DNOW 2010 tshirt, and oh so much more.

Now imagine all that, with all your food covered, with all your transportation and lodging covered, and you even get a DNOW Tshirt…all for just $20. Not bad, huh? That just means…you need to come! So here’s what you need to know…

Here is your WHAT TO BRING LIST. Make sure to take a look. This is important for every student!
