What will eternity really be like? Everyone wants to know! Country music sings about it constantly! “Prop me up beside the jukebox if I die. Lord, I want to go to heaven, but I don’t want to go tonight.” “If heaven ain’t a lot like Dixie, I don’t want to go.” “Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to go now.” “When I get to where I’m going…” One of the latest movies on eternity was called the “Hereafter” produced by Clint Eastwood and starred by Matt Damon. Have our Christian views of eternity been tainted by entertainment’s attempts to describe it? Absolutely!

What if I told you that absolutely no one will end up in heaven forever? We have called eternity “heaven” for so long that our view of eternity has become unbiblical. NT Wright rightly said, “Don’t worry, heaven won’t be the end of the world.” I agree with him fully on that because Revelation 21 and 22 says that Christians will live ON the New Earth which will be in the New Heavens. “Heaven” and the dwelling place of God will come down to Earth rather than us going up to Heaven for all eternity. Eternity will be spent in a very physical world, and not some immaterial, spiritual heavenly realm.

By the way, for you youth pastors, the powerpoint in this post has all the videos, mp3, and pics of the country music introduction. You’ll love it!

I told CBSM last night that if they didn’t understand or believe the topic we were going to talk about, they could not be saved! I told them that if this topic was not understood or believed on the mission field, then the people could not be saved. We here preaching on this in our churches usually no more than once a year. This is devastatingly sad since the majority of the Bible points to it, and it is absolutely necessary for saving faith and a spiritually growing life. What did we talk about? The resurrection of Jesus Christ! Do Christians, believers, or church members truly understand the necessity and the power of Jesus’ resurrection? His resurrection is the most important event of all time. Without the resurrection, Christmas (Jesus’ birth) and Good Friday (Jesus’ death) were failures! So here you go…my attempt at a biblical, theological, comprehendable, fun, and convicting sermon on the resurrection of Jesus to teenagers.

We’ve all heard people say, if God would just show Himself to me…then maybe I would believe. If I could just see Him… If only I knew for sure that He was real… Well, God did show Himself to Ezekiel and many other prophets for that matter. Ezekiel 1 – 3 shows us how anyone can have a vision of God on a regular basis. It reveals to us how we all can experience and encounter God in a real way. This passage shows us that our sin problems, our spiritual weaknesses, and our lack of passion to live for Him…honestly has to do with a lack of vision for who He truly is. And lastly, we tell people too often that they really should be a witness. Here’s the deal…if they had a real, huge, true, accurate vision of God…they wouldn’t be able to help but share the gospel of Jesus to everyone. So here we go “Sweet Dreams: A Vision of God.”
